Property Photography at Deeview Road South, Cults
Set in an elevated position in the sought-after Aberdeen suburb of Cults, Deeview Road South is a substantial five-bedroom period home combining traditional character with spacious contemporary family living.
For this property, we provided a complete visual marketing package comprising HDR property photography, aerial drone imagery and a Matterport 3D virtual tour.
Our aim was to showcase not only the scale and character of the house, but also its impressive setting and views across the Dee Valley.
Period Character Meets Modern Family Living
One of the most striking aspects of the property is the combination of traditional architectural character and more contemporary living spaces.
Features including stained-glass windows, decorative cornicing, hardwood flooring and fireplaces give the home a strong sense of identity, while the extended accommodation provides the space and flexibility expected from a modern family property.
Our photography needed to represent both sides of the home — highlighting the details that give it character while also clearly communicating the size, layout and quality of the living spaces.
HDR Photography for Detail and Balance
The property’s large windows and elevated outlook created a considerable difference between the light levels inside the rooms and the exterior views beyond them.
We used HDR property photography throughout the shoot to retain greater detail across both the brightest and darkest areas of each scene.
This was particularly effective in rooms overlooking the Dee Valley, where balancing the interior exposure with the scenery beyond the windows allowed us to preserve one of the property’s strongest features without leaving the interior unnaturally dark.
The finished images were designed to feel bright, polished and detailed while maintaining a natural and realistic representation of the home.
Photographing the Main Living Spaces
with several substantial living areas across the property, it was important that the photography did more than simply document each individual room.
We used wider compositions where appropriate to communicate scale and show how the different areas of the home connect, while additional viewpoints concentrated on architectural details, finishes and individual features.
The traditional sitting room and its outlook provide a very different visual character from the brighter, more contemporary kitchen and dining spaces, so our approach was adapted to suit each part of the property.
Throughout the shoot, our aim was to help prospective buyers understand how the home flows rather than presenting each room as an isolated photograph.
Showing the Setting From Above
Ground-level exterior photography is essential for showing the architecture and gardens, but for this property an aerial perspective added another important layer to the marketing.
We used drone photography to show the home’s elevated position, the extent and layout of its grounds and its relationship with the surrounding Cults and Dee Valley landscape.
For properties where the location, grounds or outlook form a significant part of their appeal, aerial photography can communicate context that is difficult to achieve using conventional exterior images alone.
The drone imagery complemented the rest of the photography by giving prospective buyers a much clearer understanding of the property as a whole.
Exploring the Property in 3D
Matterport 3D Virtual Tour
Alongside the HDR photography and aerial imagery, we created a Matterport 3D virtual tour allowing prospective buyers to explore the property remotely.
For a substantial home arranged across several levels, this was particularly valuable.
While still photography is ideal for showcasing individual rooms, features and finishes, Matterport provides a different experience. Buyers can move through the property themselves, understand how rooms connect and gain a much clearer impression of the overall layout and scale before arranging a physical viewing.
Together, the photography and virtual tour provide both the carefully composed visual presentation of traditional property marketing and the freedom to explore the home interactively.
Exterior and Garden Photography
The outdoor spaces were also an important part of the overall marketing package.
Rather than relying on a single front elevation photograph, we created a range of exterior images designed to show the architecture, gardens and different areas surrounding the house.
Combining these ground-level photographs with the aerial imagery allowed us to present the property from both an immediate and wider perspective, giving potential buyers a more complete understanding of the home and its setting.
